17 Foods That Cause Digestive Bloating!
Digestive bloating is the pits. It would be great to live without that condition that leaves me feeling like a balloon. And I can…and so can you!
Several things can cause bloating after eating, the two most common being:
1. Certain foods that commonly cause bloating and gas.
2. More serious digestive problems, most of which can be cured by proper food combining.
That’s right, certain digestive problems, like irritable bowel syndrome, candida overgrowth, food allergies and many other problems can be relieved by a simple change in diet.
Even people who are chronically tired can get their energy revived by a diet that helps cure digestive problems. You need a healthy, well-functioning digestive system in order to utilize the nutrients in your food. Heal your digestive system by eating right and you will gain energy and vitality.
In this article I want to deal specifically with digestive bloating and the foods that cause it. Here is a list of foods and additives to beware of if you experience digestive bloating:
1. Veggies That Cause Digestive Bloating:
Asparagus
Beans
Broccoli
Brussels sprouts
Cabbage
If you are experiencing bloating after you eat, avoid eating these foods raw. Cooking them well will help a lot, but in extreme cases, you might want to stay away from them altogether.
2. Milk Products That Cause Digestive Bloating:
Cheese
Cream
Ice cream
Milk
Yoghurt (but good for beneficial bacteria)
Milk products can especially play havoc on those with irritable bowel syndrome and those who are lactose intolerant. Lactose is a natural sugar found in milk and milk products. I am lactose intolerant and I know I can expect a good bout of diarrhea every time I weaken and eat my favorite ice cream.
3. Sorbitol (Also Called Glucitol) Can Cause Digestive Bloating:
Sorbitol is a slow-metabolizing sugar alcohol derived from fruits and corn. Sorbitol is a sugar substitute found in foods such as sugar-free chewing gum, frozen desserts, and dietetic candies. Watch out for this product, it not only causes bloating, but also can cause diarrhea and many other problems for those who have irritable bowel syndrome.
I know that each time I have indulged in those “healthier” and delicious sugar-free chocolates, I have paid the price with lots of time spent in the bathroom. I just have to stay away from them.
4. High Fiber Products Can Cause Digestive Bloating:
Beans (soak and rinse beans before cooking to eliminate some of the gas)
Many fruits
Oat bran
Peas
Whole wheat bread products
Psyllium fiber
Soluble supplements
Yes, I know fiber is good for you. And I still try to sneak some into my diet, but if you do, be careful not to do too much at once or you will pay for it.
