Different Types of Orthopedic Pillows For Better Health

Orthopedic pillows are designed to make sure that a sleeping person has the right body position and posture. In absence of a support, most of us would sleep and even sit in a wrong way in some sense or other. And if that keeps repeating then one may be in for a physical problem – in particular a skeletal system issue – in the longer run.

Using an orthopedic pillow, one would be able to support the skeletal system in spite of the wrong sleeping position. Hence even while we sleep without controlled consciousness, we still keep supporting our bodily framework. This is critical for the health of our overall physical system.

Different positions of our body may get wrongly placed during sleep and other times, and you would be able to figure that out easily since the part of the body might start to show pain symptoms. There are different kinds of orthopedic pillows today available, each optimized to address a different functionality – although you can still substitute one for the other with reasonable effects still produced.

* Cervical contour pillow: This is best placed under our heads while sleeping to support our head, neck and shoulder curvature. This is the most critical of all since the body structure involved here is delicate.
* Neck pillow: This is another contoured pillow made to support and maintain the shape and curvature of the neck.
* Body pillow: This is a long pillow with a curvature that supports the entire body – right from the head, running through neck, shoulders, back and knees, till the legs. This is excellent for sleeping sideways.
* Lumbar pillow: This pillow is used to support the lumbar and maintain low back support, in particular while sitting.
* Knee pillow: This is placed between legs so that the body can maintain a straight position while sleeping sideways.

You would want to understand the nature of your requirement before you decide the nature of pillow that you need.

Finding a new way to sleep with a memory foam contour pillow helps with health and peace of mind. More specifically, if you can find orthopedic pillows they can help not only with sleep, but with sitting for long periods as well.
