Health and Wellness – There's a Secret to Good Health That No One's Told You
There are many issues connected with health and well being or wellness. An important one that is often neglected, however, is the effect of our mental beliefs on the performance of the physical body, especially with regards to health. Few people stop to consider that our beliefs have anything to do with the process of health at all, rather that the health of our bodies is something that happens to us rather than by us. Our thoughts, attitudes, emotions and beliefs, however are intimately connected to our physical well being and cause good health or bad health, or disease or vitality. If you are broken-hearted, for example, or feel that you are heartless or cold-hearted, then those feelings will often be reflected in one way or another by the heart itself. Health and well-being must be seen in the larger context of our mental lives. To change our health for the better then we must begin to change our beliefs.
Few stop to think, and even fewer teach about the effect of our mental beliefs upon the physical body. Our emotions and thoughts are alive with energy. The lack of feeling of exuberance and health is often due to a blockage of energy caused by the inability to express oneself in some area of our lives. This leads to frustration and dissatisfaction which break down the body’s natural rhythms, and if these feelings persist long enough to bouts of poor health.
Eating well is a sign that an individual wants to take care of his or her body. People who are depressed, lack energy, or are otherwise not feeling well are not feeling well about themselves first. The body beautifully reflects our inner attitudes and beliefs. The body is naturally vital and full of energy. It is our own ideas that either hamper its efficiency or promote its health.
To be healthy then is to work toward the development and revitalization of those ideas that we had in early childhood, for that is when our natural selves were full of hope and optimism and not weighed down with the “reasonable” worries, fears and doubts that often set in with the onset of adulthood.
On the road to health then we must begin to rid ourselves of those ideas that tell us that the body is bad or evil, that it is wrong to express ourselves fully, that it’s o.k. to coast through life without striving to fulfill our abilities to their fullest, or that the body will naturally decline and decay with age. These are false beliefs and detrimental to a person’s natural health and well-being.
Start to change your ideas about yourselves and return to the natural selves that you once were. Begin to walk or jog for pleasure, not out of worry that your body will fall apart if you don’t exercise it. Begin to eat healthy and give your body the fruits, vegetables and vitamins that it needs to be vital and strong, but most importantly change those attitudes and beliefs that are stripping you of the natural vitality and optimism that is your heritage.
There’s a secret to good health that no one’s told you-it’s in your power to change.
