Immune System Herbs and Their Role in Fighting Cancer
Cat’s claw extract and other immune system herbs are known for their healing properties, but can they do more than the basic work of helping to make your body stronger? Can they fight cancer and work as anti cancer herbs? While improving your body’s defense system is nothing to minimize as far as health benefits go, the ability to fight cancer to any degree make this herb one that demands closer examination.
A Strong Immune System
Immune system herbs help to promote overall health by keeping your body in a state where it has the ability to fight off foreign bodies that might cause illness. This is not small feat given the run down state of many peoples’ bodies today. In a society that prizes long work hours and little sleep, it is easy to forget that this physical and mental overexertion can have very real and dramatic health implications.
If taken to an extreme, then the body loses the ability to fight off illnesses that once would not have proven to be a problem. Once you add in the combined effects of poor nutrition and consistently high stress levels then you have a recipe for health problems. The human body was not made to run on the manufactured, processed foods that have become the mainstays of the American diet, and the human body was not meant to endure consistently high stress levels.

Cancer Wristband
Breast cancer is the second cause of cancer death among women, second only to lung cancer. Although the estimated number of new cases in 2007 is relatively lower than the previous years, breast cancer advocates have not ceased. They continue to find ways to increase awareness of the disease, raise funds for its research, and help in any way they can to support the advocacy. One way to do all these is through the breast cancer bracelet.
It was Lance Armstrong who popularized the use of bracelets as a means to make a statement. The yellow bracelet that he wore in the Tour de France caused quite a stir and people asked what the wristband was about. As a cancer survivor himself, the words “Live Strong” on the bracelet conveyed a very important message to cancer victims and survivors like him. Read more…

The Harmful Effects of Smoking Marijuana – The Simple Truth
IT IS ILLEGAL!
While some states now have allowed smoking marijuana when medically prescribed such as for those suffering from aids or cancer, it is illegal. Most states have no such law and while there is definite evidence that medical marijuana may have its benefits, smoking it illegally for non-medical reasons is never a good idea. Some states have laws where for the most part it is a misdemeanor for having possession of a small amount of weed, however depending on how much you have on your possession, you could be charged with intent to sell, AND if you were to be busted within a certain number of feet from a school, the charges become much more serious.
IT COULD COST YOU YOUR JOB
Many employers can and do conduct random drug tests. In most cases it is written somewhere that using illegal substances is grounds for termination and therefore you very well might be risking your job every time you decide to smoke pot. Also, almost ALL employers these days do a drug screening prior to hiring someone. With the state of the job market and the economy is it really worth it to get high? Read more…

Mesothelioma – An Example of Treatment Difficulties
Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that is associated with exposure to asbestos. The disease is a brutal form of cancer because it is very hard to discover and often only is diagnosed in the very late stages. At that point, treatment is often very difficult for a host of reasons. To give you an idea of how difficult, we cover one maddening complication in this article.
Mesothelioma is the cancer of the mesothelium from which it derives its name. The mesothelium is a lining found in the chest and abdomen that acts more or less as a protective sheath for organs such as the heart and lungs. While cancer of the lungs can be easily identified, the same cannot be said for identifying it in the thin lining surrounding them. This is what makes Mesothelioma so deadly. It usually only discovered very late, often after it has grown for 20, 30, 40 years or more.
The cancer is most often found around the Mesothelioma lining of the lungs. To diagnose it, the physicians usually must take a biopsy of the material in the area. This is done by creating a small incision and then inserting the relevant medical tool. A small amount of material is then snipped off, extracted and sent to the pathology office for examination under a microscope. It sounds simple, but here is where the difficulty in dealing with Mesothelioma rears its head. Read more…

Cancer Discoveries: Cancer could extend From Pregnant Mother to Baby
Scientists have determined fresh proof that it is conceivable for a mother with malignant neoplastic disease to transfer the disease on to her unborn baby.
A case study establishes that cancer cells in an baby genetically correspond those from her mom; same mom that was diagnosed with cancer of the blood briefly after a regular full-term birth.
Scientists enunciate uncommon examples of mothers’ cancerous cells in babies have been accounted across the last 100 years, which has indicated the hypothesis that malignant neoplastic disease cells possibly transfered from mother to baby. Merely so far it hadn’t been sustained genetically.
The study , brought out in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, scientists applied genetical tracking to establish that the malignant neoplastic disease cells were carried from mom to infant. Read more…
Interesting Vegetable Nutrition Facts
Eating vegetables can be difficult for some people to stomach. They would rather get their nutrients that they may need from other food groups rather than from vegetables. Even though many doctors and nutritionists constantly inform the public about the vegetable nutrition facts, it seems that it is just not enough to convince them to regularly include vegetables in their daily diet. It has been noted that less than 25% of the population in America include the right portion amount of vegetables each day.
Aside from cancer, below are just some of the common illnesses that people in the U.S acquire due to the lack of proper nutrients that come from vegetables:
• Diabetes
Most obese people in the U.S are affected by some type of diabetes. One of the reasons why they get diabetes, is due to the lack of fiber in the body, which helps to stabilize the body’s sugar level and help keep down their cholesterol level as well. Read more…

Mesothelioma – Can The SV-40 Virus Cause It?
The vast majority of Mesothelioma cases are caused by exposure to asbestos in the workplace or at home. This is a common statement put forth about the cancer, but you’ll note it doesn’t state that all cases are caused by asbestos exposure. There are instances where asbestos is not involved. One that is garnering attention is whether the SV-40 Virus might cause it.
SV-40 stands for Simiun Virus 40, which is to say it is derived from monkeys. How did this virus become a concern to humans? Well, polio was once a huge health problem. A vaccine was developed for it that has largely eradicated the disease. Oh, there was one small problem. The vaccine was grown on monkey kidneys. Some of the monkeys had contracted SV-40. While not impacting the effectiveness of the vaccine, the virus did travel along with it into some human hosts. Read more…

Will you be denied the swine flu shot this fall?
The question: Will you get the swine flu shot this fall? Will you even be eligible to receive it?
Stephen contacted me recently and helped me realize that very few people have fully appreciated the fact that shortly the biggest and most costly inoculation program in the history of public health will be launched. The cost to U.S. taxpayers alone to foot the bill for a swine flu vaccine will be in the vicinity of 10 billion dollars.
I agree with Stephen that most people are likely to jump at the opportunity to get the vaccine. What I did not fully appreciate, and what most others probably also do not fully understand, are the pros and cons of doing so. I certainly was not aware that there may only be sufficient vaccine to inoculate a select portion of the population, so many of us may be required to forgo our spot in the line. Read more…

What Are the Most Common Reasons For Hair Loss and Balding?
Are you curious as to why you are starting to lose your hair? This article will go over the most common reasons for hair loss and what you can do not only help prevent future hair loss, but also help stimulate new hair growth.
Common Reasons For Hair Loss
Many people who suffer from hair loss have unique medical conditions such as cancer, thyroid disease, and skin disease. Other people can also loose their hair because of a certain medication they are taking, if they are going through chemotherapy or other type of radiation, or because they have been exposed to certain chemicals and toxins. It’s also pretty common for women to start loosing their hair during pregnancy, menopause, or at other times where hormonal and nutritional changes occur.
You may not believe it, but some people start to loose their hair when they are dealing with too much stress. The stress that they deal with is obviously more severe than the everyday stress we may experience (i.e. a horrible car accident, a death in the family, etc.). Read more…
