10 Servings of Fruits and Vegetables a Day? You've Got to Be Kidding, Right?
Our bodies need fruits and vegetables. They even crave them! Do we ever eat enough of them in one day? Are the vegetables we DO eat of a quality that gives us the maximum amount of vitamins and minerals? Do you eat a side salad of iceberg lettuce and maybe a few slivers of tomato, carrot and cucumber about 3 times a week and think you are doing well? I would say that most people are in severe need of the power given from eating fruits and vegetables. These power houses are what give our bodies strength and energy.
They keep us from getting sick and suffering, but yet we shy away from eating them and if we do eat them with every meal they are the smallest portion. Organic fruits and veggies are expensive. Yet research shows that certified organic fruits and vegetables have 40% more nutrients than fruits and vegetables that are not organic. I don’t have time to peel, chop or cut at dinner time. I don’t like the taste of green things. When I buy fresh fruits and vegetables they go rotten before I have a chance to use them. There are millions of excuses why we don’t eat them.
