Hand Surgery Helps You to Fix Torn Tendons

The most common types of injuries requiring hand surgery involve torn tendons. Tendon damage can cause stiffness in the hands or fingers, or a complete inability to move. Minor damage can cause pain that makes doing any everyday task difficult. At the very least, tendon damage is a major pain.

Here Is What They Do

These are what connect the muscles to the bone. We have them all throughout the body. They also function to operate parts of the body locally. In other words, your finger movements are controlled directly by tendons in the hands, rather than by the muscles in the arm or shoulders. This is why this injury hurts mobility.

There are three primary ways they can get damaged. They can be damaged by injuries, by disease, or spontaneously torn by everyday actions. Hearing Damage

Unfortunately, hearing damage is one of those injuries that cannot be reversed. Once you start to lose your hearing, there is no way to recover your noise sensing abilities. You can use exterior tools, such as hearing aids, to regain listening capabilities, but your dulled sense of hearing will remain in a damaged state for the rest of your life.

Those who have lost their hearing due to another’s negligence (such as occupational exposure to very loud noises) deserve to recover damages for unreasonably suffering such a terrible disability. We rely on our ability to sense noises for so many things – to communicate, to learn, to even listen for oncoming traffic – that losing it is a tragedy.

Noise-Induced Hearing Loss

Noise-induced hearing loss, also known as NIHL, is the loss of one’s sense of hearing through exposure to loud noises. NIHL can develop over a period of time of continuous noise exposure, or it can occur immediately after contact with an exceptionally loud and acute sound, such as a gunshot. Read more…

Mistakes to Avoid on the Treadmill – Part 1

Regular workouts on a treadmill are fantastic for getting good quality cardio exercise. If you really want to maximize the benefit you get from treadmills you should learn to avoid some pretty common mistakes. By achieving the correct posture for example you avoid many possible injuries and unnecessary stress, your walking will be smoother and go for longer.

Never get on the treadmill while it’s moving at full speed. The correct way is to have one foot on each side of the belt and start the treadmill moving at a slow speed. Once you are on board you can gradually increase the speed. Take the time to notice where the emergency switch to stop the treadmill is located. It’s often indicated with a red light.

Something so simple can seem like silly advice but really you’d be surprised at how many people have injured themselves trying to step onto a treadmill incorrectly. Usually they have been surprised by underestimating it’s speed or the sudden jerk when it first begins to move. Read more…
