Position Yourself to Snore Less
If you have a difficult time with snoring at night, you might be surprised to find out that you may be able to cut down on the amount that your snoring by changing the position in which you sleep. The reason why this is the case is because we often snore because the soft tissues in the back of our throat relaxes and begisn to obstruct our airways in some way or another. This can not only cause us to snore but it may also cause a more serious problem, known as sleep apnea. In order to overcome this problem, one of the easier ways that we can approach the situation is by changing the position in which we sleep.
Many of us that have a difficult time with snoring and sleep apnea tend to sleep on our backs or at least towards our back, if we sleep on our side. There’s no doubt that this is one of the more comfortable ways to sleep and we tend to condition ourselves to sleep in this way because we feel that we are opening the air passages more and breathing easier. Stop Snoring: Ways to Treat the Nighttime Dilemma

Luckily, snoring is not much of a difficult condition to treat. The nature of which is also well-known that most consider it normal. So normal that many tend not to get bothered of its effects, especially when mild.
Treatments for snoring depend on the diagnosis gathered. While snoring may appear to have no types, it must be understood that there are certain kinds of snoring that excessively disrupts sleep and there are those that do not cause any harm at all.
Examination of the physiology and anatomy of the throat and the underlying tissues will reveal where the problems root. Usually, snoring stems from loose muscles that flaps back and forth when air runs through the throat. However, this is not always the case. Sometimes, snoring can also be due to allergies, deformities, infections and abnormal enlargement of adenoids and tonsils. Sleep Apnea –Can It Be Serious?
Until a family member discovered he had Sleep Apnea, we had no explanation for his constant state of being exhausted.
In my brother’s case, he was only in his early 20ths, not a typical age for this condition. It was, in fact his wife who became concerned with his loud, excessive snoring which frequently jolted him awake in the middle of the night.
Sleep Apnea is a serious, potentially life-threatening condition that is far more common than generally understood.
Regardless of type, a person affected with Sleep Apnea is rarely, if ever, aware of having difficulty breathing, even upon awakening. Their breathing can become abnormally slow and shallow or stop, during which time they can make persistent effort to overcome the airway obstruction resulting in loud snoring, grunting, or choking.
It is usually a spouse or someone who witnesses the episodes who first suspect the existence of this condition due to the person’s constant fatigue and can also be very frightening to someone who watches a family member gasp for air. Read more…
